In-School Prevention Education

CACY Prevention Educators maintain credentialing through the state as Ohio Certified Prevention Specialists—that’s right, we specialize in prevention! CACY is funded by the Richland County Mental Health & Recovery Services board, United Way, grants and private donations, making these services FREE to you.

Lessons include interactive workbook activities, role play and games. Home Workout activities are provided to reinforce topics at home. Skills developed help students succeed socially and academically.

10 week evidence- based curriculum that covers the following topics:

K-2nd Grade

Social and Emotional Learning & Bullying Prevention Education

5 week, evidence-based curriculum that covers the following topics:

K-2nd Grade

3rd-4th Grade

  • Includes more in depth information on 3rd-5th grade topics as well as healthy teen dating and social media awareness

Erika’s Lighthouse: Depression Awareness and Suicide Prevention

1-3 lessons focusing on suicide risk and warning signs, bystander intervention tips, review of important local resources, and school-wide public awareness activity. This interactive program is designed for grades 6-12.

School-wide activities which promote prevention awareness month themes such as:

Youth-Led Groups

Lunchtime and after school groups for adolescents dedicated to spreading the message to fellow students of the benefits of living a substance free lifestyle. Students develop communication, self-confidence and leadership skills.

After School / Summer Program

CACY Prevention Educators are available to facilitate social and emotional skill building lessons at your after school community site or summer program.

Safety Towns

Interactive lesson facilitated by prevention educators with incoming kindergarten students helping them understand safe and unsafe use of prescription and over-the-counter medicines and making responsible choices to keep their bodies healthy as they grow.
